I just got home from a meeting at Franklin School Park to help the neighbors on the north side of the park resolve a parking issue.
After the meeting about the parking issue, Al Moll and Councilman Didier were kind enough to give the neighborhood leaders a tour of the Hafner Pavilion that is under construction.
Kay Smith-Shoemaker from Northighlands, Bud Mendenhall from Bloomindale and I were blown away by the progress and the workmanship of Schenkel Construction. The superintendent for Schenkel Construction was very helpful in his knowledge of the project and his grasp of the details of the project. He answered all of our questions in a professional and very polite manner. I was quite impressed with him and Schenkel Construction's positive attitude for the new Hafner Pavilion.
Mayor Henry, I need to say thank you so much for listening to the neighborhoods and being a champion for this truly transformational neighborhood project. You were listening when the neighborhood leadership asked for an area for our neighborhood police officers to have a restroom facility of their own within the Hafner Pavilion along with a small but comfortable area for doing their paperwork. This small but very important detail from the neighborhood leadership was not forgotten gotten by you.
This one requested item has proved to the neighborhood leadership that Mayor Henry is listening to what the neighborhoods' needs really are by making this one small detail come true. Your commitment to building Franklin School Park and the Hafner Pavilion as a collaboration of government and neighborhoods is real and not just empty words to placate the neighborhood leadership.
You are showing the leadership of the northwest area neighborhoods that your commitment to our northwest area neighborhoods is very real and we can count on Mayor Henry to be our champion in the future for rebuilding and rebooting of the northwest area neighborhoods. Your commitment to the northwest area neighborhoods is moving them further and further away from the tipping point.
Mayor Henry, thank you for being a champion for these projects. That means so much to our northwest area neighborhoods. But even more for listening and paying close attention to the neighborhood's needs and allowing us to be part of a vision that is coming to true, only because of your commitment to rebuilding and rebooting our northwest area neighborhoods.
