Marcus Greene Jr. continued his hot hitting Thursday but unfortunately the Fort Wayne TinCaps lost 7-3 to the Lake County Captains in Eastlake, Ohio. The 22-year-old catcher hit his fourth home run in five games - a three-run shot in the sixth inning that broke a scoreless tie. It was his fifth round tripper of the season.
The TinCaps couldn't hold the lead however as the Captains scored two in the seventh and five in the eighth to win for the second night in a row. Lake County won two out of three in the series played at Classic Park.
Ronald Bolanos started on the mound for Fort Wayne and turned in a quality start. The 20-year-old right hander allowed two runs on four hits and struck out five in 6.2 innings. The only runs he allowed were on a two-run homer by Jose Medina.
Blake Rogers relieved Bolanos after Medina's homer with two outs in the seventh. He retired the next batter to end the inning but then ran into trouble in the eighth. The Captains scored five runs in the eighth with Rogers, 2-2, only retiring one batter.
Diomar Lopez replaced Rogers and got the final two outs of the game while allowing one hit.
Each team had nine hits. Greene, Brad Zunica and Fernando Tatis Jr. led the TinCaps with two hits each. Reinald Ilarraza, Hudson Potts and Nate Easley also had hits for Fort Wayne.
The TinCaps had opportunities to score but was 2-for-13 with runners in scoring position and left 10 runners in scoring position.
Earlier Thursday the San Diego Padres announced two roster moves for Fort Wayne involving right handed pitchers Jim McDade and Wilmer Torres. McDade was transferred from the TinCaps to the Short-Season A Tri-City Dust Devils while Torres was reinstated from the disabled list. While with Fort Wayne, McDade had a 2.45 ERA in 18.1 innings. He had five appearances including one start.
